Mr. Jackson was born July 28, 1927, in Amarillo. He attended Amarillo public schools and was a veteran of the Army. He was an employee for Santa Fe Railroad until he retired.


He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church for 74 years. He served on the senior usher board, deacon ministry and on the trustee board. He was a very faithful member until his health failed.

E.D. Shaffer, 72, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 16, 2010.

Services were at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2010 in Emanuel Church of Amarillo with the Rev. Joe Taylor officiating. Burial in Llano Cemetery by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St.

E.D. married Barbara Chapman Shaffer on April 5, 1961. He joined St. John Baptist Church in 1990, and was a member until the time of his death.

He was a graduate of Carver High School and attended Amarillo College. He was employed by Pantex, Cizon’s and Amarillo Independent School District prior to his disability.
