1958-09-04 2012-02-26Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Jenkins Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. D.D. Fincher, pastor, officiating and Elijah B. Demenson as eulogist. Burial in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Warford Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St.
Raymond Pierson was born September 4, 1958, in Amarillo to Charlie and Bethenia “Betty” Pierson. He received his education in Amarillo. Raymond joined the Job Corps, pursuing a career in meat cutting. He was a member of Carter Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
He worked at Glenn’s grocery, Sutton grocery and other area stores. He worked at Hilltop Senior Citizen Center for more than 10 years, was respected and loved by all who attended. Raymond volunteered and delivered for Meals on Wheels for more than 10 years, voluteered with community events, elderly and disabled who needed small jobs done, serving and preparing meals for church events and social events.
Survivors include Charlene Watson of Amarillo. Eugene Pierson Sr. and wife Diane of San Diego, Sarah McCullough of Amarillo, Larry Pierson of Amarillo, Joyce Henderson and husband Chester of Amarillo, Eula Johnson of San Diego, nieces and nephews, Tanysha Pierson, Darian Watson, Lamont Pierson, Justin Pierson, Brandum Pierson, Roshonda Pierson, Mrs. Ruby Persons, his friend, mentor, pal and adviser, Iris Lawrence, his supervisor and friend, Doris Gardner and Tony Johnson, his best friends and Meals on Wheels staff.
