Reverend Joyce Mims
 
Reverend Joyce Mims. She is a member of the Class of 1970. 
 
She worked as a Teacher/Coach for Palo Duro High School for twenty-nine (29) years. She founded the girls Track and Field Cross Country Team in 1974.

Joyce and her husband the late Bishop James Martin Mims were the owner of the Golden Gate Mortuary.

She states, “I am blessed to have been a Co-Pastor with my husband of our ministry at the New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church.” She and her late husband were also Co-Owners of Golden Gate Mortuary.  Mrs. Mims remains the owner now.

She serves as a Chaplain for the Carver Golden Dragon Association (CGDA).  Her principal duty will be to give religious guidance.  Reverend Mims will offer Inspirational Messages to the Dragon Nation, as well as prayer assistance to member who are going through difficult situations and who need prayer.  As a Chaplain, she may host workshops to assist us in improving life skills.  The CGDA needs someone of her caliber to assist us and guide us as we move forward with our mission and purpose to serve the under served population of our community.

She will participate in the fund-raising efforts of the Carver Golden Dragon Association (CGDA).

Bishop John “Chris” Brown

 

Bishop John “Chris” Brown is a native of the Amarillo. He was educated in the Amarillo Independent School District and is a 1982 graduate of Palo Duro High School. Upon graduation, he attended Amarillo College, obtaining an Associate’s Degree in Auto, Life, and Health Insurance. He is self-employed as a licensed Insurance Agent with the State of Texas.


Bishop Brown met his mentor the late Bishop Horace Stacey II, at the age of 19 and it was during this encounter and under Bishop Stacey’s tutelage, Pastor Brown received his formal training and call to ministry. 

Bishop Brown was ordained as an Elder, and in 1985 became the Assistant Pastor for the Temple of Praise Community Church.  In 2007 following the death of Bishop Stacey, then Assistant Pastor Brown was elevated to the office of Senior Pastor of the Temple of Praise Community Church. On July 19, 2014 Pastor Brown was ordained as a Bishop.  

He engages himself with hospital visits to pray for the sick and afflicted throughout the Amarillo Panhandle area while demonstrating un-wavering faith and devoting his life and service to the ministry. He sows seed unto God through ministry by praying for those that need healing of the mind, body, soul and spirit by teaching Bible study classes for Singles and Couples while devoting time to study God’s word.

The work of the Lord has always been first and foremost in Pastor’s heart as he continues to strive for excellence: in Colossians 3:23 it says, “Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not unto men”. 

Bishop Brown’s ultimate desire is to see the people of God fully embrace God’s love and walk in victory while they experience the fullness of God’s promises.

Bishop Brown is supported in this ministry by his wife; First Lady Dede, four children and six grandchildren.

Reverend Phillip Cody Randle
 

Reverend Phillip Cody Randle was born on January 11, 1955, to Mr. Dan and Mrs. Josephine Randle.  He grew up in Amarillo Texas. He attended Hilltop Elementary, Carver Jr. High School and Palo Duro High School. He graduated from Palo Duro, Class of 1973.
 
He left Amarillo to pursue a career in Airline Personnel in Los Angeles, California.  He returned to Amarillo for a short while only to leave and go to Paul Quinn College to pursue a degree in Ministry.  He graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Social Work.
 
Pastor Randle was raised up in Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Church, where he is the current Pastor. Before assuming this position, he pastored: Johnson Chapel A.M.E Church, Amarillo, Texas, St. James A.M.E., Dawson, Texas and Brock Chapel A.M.E., Borger, Texas.
 
Pastor Randle is currently active in the Ministerial Alliance and the Community Development Project.   He is currently serving on the Board of Examiners Committee for the Greater Fort Worth District.
 
He is married to Elizabeth A. Randle and the proud father of three, Brandon, April and Ashley and, they are the proud grandparents of seven. He has one brother, William Randle Jr.

Through all the paths that Pastor Randle has traveled he is reminded of one thing that is always constant and that is “God Is Good”!  On any given day you can always know the Pastor Randle will tell you that he is “Blessed and highly favored”!
