Services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in Bexar Street Baptist Church in Dallas with the Rev. C.C. Robertson, pastor, and the Rev. T.C. Marshall officiating. Burial in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Dallas by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St.

Archie was born September 13, 1951, in Terrell to Archie Nelson and Etta Marie Edwards. The family moved to Amarillo when Archie was very young.

He attended Hilltop Elementary School, Carver High School and graduated from Lincoln High School in Dallas.

He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He was employed as a truck driver and had lived in Amarillo for the past several years.

Survivors include his father, Archie Nelson of Amarillo; a brother, Darrell Nelson of Amarillo; two sisters, Ruby Clark and Sylvia D. Nelson, both of Dallas; and other relatives.
