Ressie was born January 2, 1950, in Amarillo to the late Frank Sheppard and Corine Cook.

She was employed with the transportation system for the Amarillo Independent School District for 25 years. She enjoyed her job and worked faithfully until her health failed.

Ressie was a faithful member of New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed. She loved her church and her pastor. Over a period of time, she served in the capacity as Sunday school teacher, a devoted member of the choir and a member of the mission ministry.

Survivors include three daughters, Carmen Parks and husband Michael of Oklahoma City and Betty Parker and Ann Billington, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Bettye Thomas and husband Daniel and Cora Ann Oresanya, all of Amarillo; six grandchildren, Shatori, Tiana, Lance, Ashley, Cassie and Aua; four great-grandchildren, Demlyah Lee, Harmony, Neviah and Melody; and her godson, the Rev. Eric James Mims Sr.
