Sammie Nichols

Sammie Augusta Nichols was born December 2, 1932 in Memphis, Texas. He was the beloved of the late A.J. Nichols Sr. and Arquilla Perkins. The family moved to Amarillo when Sammie was 3 years old. He attended Frederick Douglass Elementary School, Patton school and graduated from Carver High School.
Sammie served three years in the U.S. Army. In 1956, he married Ruthie Mae Mason. This union was blessed with over 50 years of happiness. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.
Sammie was survived by his late wife Ruthie Nichols (passed away November 9, 2006); Amarillo, Texas; son Clarence Reed; Amarillo, Texas; stepdaughter late Mary Ann Stanley, Arlington, Texas; three grandchildren Shannon Stanley; Arlington, Texas, Chris Reed and Kim Reed; both Amarillo, Texas; six great grandchildren, sister Jearline James; South Carolina; brother A.J. Nichols; Amarillo, Texas.
