Services were at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2010 in Emanuel Church of Amarillo with the Rev. Joe Taylor officiating. Burial in Llano Cemetery by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St.

E.D. married Barbara Chapman Shaffer on April 5, 1961. He joined St. John Baptist Church in 1990, and was a member until the time of his death.

He was a graduate of Carver High School and attended Amarillo College. He was employed by Pantex, Cizon’s and Amarillo Independent School District prior to his disability.

Survivors include five loving sons, Edward Shaffer Sr. and wife Michelle, Jonathan Shaffer and wife Sharon, Ethan Shaffer and wife Felicia, Nathan Shaffer and wife Susan and Keemon Shaffer, all of Amarillo; two brothers, W.C. Shaffer and wife Dr. Julia Shaffer of Cleveland and a twin brother, A.D. Shaffer of Amarillo; two aunts, Martha Jefferson of Buffalo, N.Y., and Emma Lewis of Chicago; a special cousin, Charles Allen of Jackson, Miss.; 10 grandchildren; four nieces; four nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
