Robert Glenn Wilkerson, 58, of Amarillo died Saturday, April 6, 2013.

Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with the Rev. Herman Moore officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Robert was born Feb. 2, 1955, in Amarillo to Ida Mae Wilkerson. He married Paula Gail Bacon on March 17, 1987.

Robert graduated in 1973 from Palo Duro High School and then attended Jarvis Christian College. For many years, he sold encyclopedias across the country and won Top Salesman of the Year several times, allowing him to travel the world. This job brought him to his wife of 26 years, Paula.

In 1990, Robert graduated from Amarillo College with a degree in theology and later attended West Texas A&M University in pursuit of an English degree. He loved grooving to motown music, playing dominoes and card games, and spending time with his loved ones.

Robert was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and stood by his team through wins and losses. He finally got to see his beloved team play Christmas 2011. He was known as “Puncho” by many of his friends and family.

Robert and Paula were members of Mount Zion Church, where they regularly attended for many years with their three sons. Even as his health diminished, he continued to faithfully read his Bible at home.

Robert was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was a quiet man with great intellect and was loved by many.

He was preceded in death by his mother; a daughter, Kamica; and a son, Damon.

Survivors include his wife, Paula Wilkerson; five sons, Justin Wilkerson and wife Natasha of Baltimore, Kevin Wilkerson and Dillon Wilkerson, both of College Station, and Majhai Wilkerson and Robert Wilkerson Jr., both of Amarillo; two daughters, Vanessa Wilkerson of San Leandro, Calif., and Lanaria Wilkerson of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Kelah Prior, Quadrick Reeder and Jordan Gaither; a sister, Carolyn Whitaker of Amarillo; a brother, Paul Whitaker and wife Judy of Denver; and many more loved ones.
