James Junior Blount, 60, of Amarillo died Thursday, December 29, 2011.

Services were at 1 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2011 in New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Mims and the Rev. Eric Mims Sr. officiating. Arrangements are by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St.

James Junior Blount was born July 26, 1951, in Amarillo to James and Juanita Blount. He was the oldest of nine children.

James went to school at Hilltop Elementary and Carver High School. He served in the Army for four years. He was a cook for David’s Steakhouse until his health failed.

Survivors include five sisters, Nancy Collins and husband James, Vicki Blount, Tami Blount, Qavis Blount and Fayera Blount, all of Amarillo; three stepchildren, Anthony Young and Anastacia and Yolanda Cook; and four grandchildren, Torrance “TC,” Nastacia, Shalanda and Joshua Cook, all of Garland.
