Services were at 11 a.m. Thursday January 15, 2009 in New Covenant Baptist Church with Bishop James Mims, pastor, and Superintendent A.L. Gipson of Jerusalem Church of God in Christ officiating. Burial in Llano Cemetery by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St.

Darrell was born in Amarillo. He worked for J.B. Swift Co. and was a member of Jerusalem Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include three nieces, Colette Sterling and Victoria Flody, both of Killeen, and Karmyn West of Marrero, La.; and Superintendent A.L. Gipson, pastor and friend.
